I am a cyber security and incident response specialist. I am part of a team that has advised on over 2,000 cyber incidents, including some of Australia's most high profile and complex in recent times. I regularly advise clients locally, across the Asia Pacific region and globally on cyber incident and crisis response, data protection and privacy issues, including: • incident response management and vendor coordination; • ransomware response and recovery; • extortion negotiations and threat intelligence; • payment misdirection fraud, funds tracing and funds recovery; • email and social media account takeover response; • communications strategy and stakeholder management; • data breach assessment and notification, including coordination of global and multi-party data breaches across 100+ jurisdictions; • e-safety, image based abuse and cyber bullying; • regulatory response, including dealing with the OAIC, NZOPC, ASIC, APRA, the ACCC and other regulators across 50+ jurisdictions; • third party disputes; • recovery litigation against wrongdoers; and• class action risk relating to privacy breaches (an evolving space). As part of the incident response offering, I work with vendors from a range of disciplines including forensics, IT security, dark web monitoring, data protection, communications, media monitoring, notification and loss adjustment. I also regularly work with law enforcement agencies (State, Australian Federal Police and global) and the Australian Cyber Security Centre/CERT NZ. I have extensive experience providing clients with pre-incident services, including the review, development and implementation of systems and processes to address cyber risk. I also help clients to prepare incident response plans and simulate cyber events to test incident response readiness. I am also a CCH Pinpoint expert and the co-author of the Cybersecurity, Cyber Incident Response and Cyber Liability Insurance Chapters in the Wolters Kluwer CCH online Compliance and Business Module for lawyers. In 2019 I was recognised among Australia's leading young lawyers as a finalist in the Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 awards.I am admitted to practice in both Australia and New Zealand.
