When it comes to connected and automated vehicles, my job is to know what’s going on, who’s doing it, and identify significant and emerging trends.With a global perspective, I focus on partnership development, intelligent vehicle applications, industry trend analysis, and business strategy. My clients include federal government agencies, vehicle manufacturers, suppliers, research laboratories, state DOTs, and technology firms worldwide. I have deep and broad relationships with key players and I operate very broadly across this eco-system to bring my clients together with high-potential customers, suppliers, and stakeholders.Additionally, I’m an early-stage investor, focusing on driver assist and automated driving systems.One of my specialties is automated trucking. I am 2nd Vice-Chair of the Automated and Electric Study Group of the American Trucking Association Technology and Maintenance Council.I frequently lecture as an expert in intelligent vehicle systems and contribute regularly to Forbes.com, writing about the latest developments in automated driving systems. In 2010, I co-produced “The Thinking Car” documentary, funded by the European Commission, which was broadcast across Europe. It is still a great resource for non-technical people who want to learn about crash avoidance systems. In 2007, I was honored to be the Team Leader for Ibeo's entry ("Team Lux") into the DARPA Urban Challenge. Back in my “Fed” days (1991-1997) I managed USDOT’s program in vehicle-highway automation R&D, establishing the National Automated Highway System Consortium. These activities culminated with Demo ‘97 in San Diego, showcasing automated driving to the world. Also at that time, I established the International Task Force on Vehicle-Highway Automation (ITFVHA) which continues to meet annually.I hold a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University, an M.S. in Technical Management from Johns Hopkins University, and an M.A. in Transformative Leadership and Social Change from The Maryland University of Integrative Health.Specialties: Intelligent Transportation Systems, Automated Driving Systems
