Building on my career in finance, working with one of Ireland’s leading retail Banks in a number of decision-making roles, in 2016 I completed an Honours Psychology Degree bringing together my interest in Psychology, leadership, group decision-making and the effect of negative stress upon the individual. The primary focus of my research examines the effect of Social Influence and the Situation on individual and group decision-making. My final year research project comprises a Psychological examination of human factors, detailed within the Bank reports commissioned by the Minister for Finance, which were identified as having contributed to the Irish financial crisis. For my empirical study, I examined whether, or not, the variables Leadership Style and Self-efficacy predict Decision-making Strategy [ref. Abstract, below].I would identify most closely with Social Psychology and Behaviour Science disciplines. My research interests address a number of related Psychology topics, including:• Is behaviour primarily governed by dispositional qualities, or do other factors materially influence us?• The effect of Groupthink and related behaviour on decision-making.• The influence of Ethics over an individual’s behaviour. • Whether, or not, Financial Incentives and Rewards effectively influence performance. • How Anti-social Personality Disorder can manifest itself in work-place settings.• Whether, or not, irrational decision-making might reliably predict future decision-making patterns in work-place situations.
