Richard commenced his involvement in this area of accounting while he was attached to the Office of the Official Receiver in Bankruptcy ( Insolvency and Trustee Service Australia) which was a division the Federal Attorney General's Department. He left the Official Receivers Office in 1987 (where he had held the position of Assistant Official Receiver) to join the specialist insolvency firm of Ferrier Hodgson & Co where he undertook a wide range of assignments including a number of "trade on" matters of a significant size for the major banks and various multi national companies. In October 1989 Richard was recruited to the firm of Parkhill Lithgow & Gibson (PLG) in their Corporate Recovery and Insolvency division. While with PLG which subsequently became BDO Richard undertook and was responsible for conducting a range of matters including providing advice on the reconstruction of a number of large national organisations and some significant court appointed assignments. Richard was also instrumental in administering the largest bankruptcy in Australia at that time. In July 1996 Richard joined Mann Judd as a Director of its Insolvency Division and was responsible for the overall operation of the administrative functions of the department and the overseeing of the various assignments carried out within the practice. Mann Judd was acquired by Stockford Limited in 2000 where by Richard became a Principal in the Insolvency Division of Stockford Limited in Melbourne. In July 2002, Richard left Stockford Limited to form CJL Partners which was a specialist business advisory practice. CJL Partners was ultimately acquired by SV Partners in July 2011.SV Partners is a national business advisory practice. Richard is presently a Director in its Victorian operation. Richard is a member of the Insolvency Practitioners Association of Australia and a Registered Liquidator and an Official Liquidator of the Supreme of Victoria and Federal Courts of Australia.
