Hi, Richard Cheeseman here! In my 30 + years of working in the IT industry, I am constantly amazed by the rate of change and the way business owners in the sector have had to adapt. The recent loss of traditional server-based revenue is one example of a sea-change in an industry founded on good technical knowledge, and the patience to deal with end-users who often don’t appreciate it.For a business owner of a small IT firm, it has never been harder to navigate the significant challenges of changing revenue models, international competition and increasingly complex technology, which leads me to the reason why I care about this - for many of us, this business ends up taking over and destroying our family lives (which was the reason we started out in business anyway!).As a business coach, I specialise in helping business owners achieve their goals, using a structured approach to capturing their present challenges and strengths, re-inventing their dreams and goals, then plotting a course to get there. As well as IT firms, I have a special interest in working with the owners of family businesses who believe that is possible to have a successful business AND a successful family, but often struggle to find the time and resources to do both well. It is possible to be both wholly committed to your business and 100% there for your family every day.
