I created several IT energy-saving proposals using technologies such as server virtualization and Power-Over-Ethernet video surveillance. At Teradata I wrote and maintained a series of Field Support manuals for installing and upgrading the very large scale database massively parallel supercomputer systems. We had fast software release cycles that required frequent updating of my expanding family of UNIX, Linux and Windows support manuals. Over the years, I worked with Interleaf, Microsoft Project and Frame versions up through Structured FrameMaker. I learned the basics of DITA as it arrived on the scene.

For several years, Teradata was a division of NCR Corporation. At Success Makers I organized and wrote Web pages for a wide variety of customers such as: a tee shirt silk-screening company, a gold jewelry site, a yarn store and a mathematics software company..

At Cray in Wisconsin, I wrote computer system hardware manuals for the CRAY-1-S, X, M and XMP supercomputers, from the startup days onward. Working from raw Boolean equations, I documented and helped debug logic designs in close collaboration with computer design engineers. This machine was initially built from NAND chips alone, for raw speed: CPU chips did not exist. Logic design is still alive in my heart from these excellent Cray days! I documented the instruction set and logic design and managed all engineering drawings and documents. In fact, I myself drew the logic diagrams of the whole supercomputer, working from Boolean equations. Seymour had left to form Cray Research, the lab closed, and I wrote Air Force tech manuals for disk storage units until Cray Research called me. Again I leaped at the chance to work in supercomputers.Why supercomputers? It is a little known fact that as soon as the 6600 team had a CPU running at speed, they saw it was fast enough to successfully model nuclear explosions.
