In 2010 the government announced the plan for a single national address gazetteer. As a result GeoPlace was formed to create this spatial address gazetteer and, working with Ordnance Survey launch the AddressBase(r) products range to deliver the data to the public sector and commercial markets.I was asked to take on this newly-created role to design and build a new spatial data infrastructure for GeoPlace - capable of taking these products from concept to maturity.Key achievements include the launch of the AddressBase product range, compliance to the European INSPIRE directive, the incorporation of Scotland data to provide a solution for Great Britain. We have invested in significant data quality improvements to meet new user requirements - for example the accuracy of coordinates has been improved to meet the need for improved flood risk analysis in recent years. Over 90% of the public sector in Great Britain have migrated to the product range via the Public Sector Mapping Agreement and sales are high in a number of commercial sectors including banking, finance and insurance. The NAG spatial data infrastructure was awarded winner in the category "Quality and Quantity" at the 2011 European Umbrella Organisation for Geographic Information (EUROGI) awards.

I was part of a team responsible for specifying the requirements for the National Address Gazetteer and AddressBase® products. Following this I was the sponsor working closely with developers to deliver the architecture to manage this. I joined GeoPlace at its inception due to aqcuisition of my former employer. During this challenging period of intense transition I was heavily involved in identifying and managing business change and defining what GeoPlace is and will become.The products were successfully launched on time and on budget and received over 100 orders upon launch in October 2011. The project was awarded highly commended at the 2011 Association of Geographic Information Innovation Awards and joint winner in the Project Delivery Category at the UK Public Sector Digital Awards 2011.

Intelligent Addressing was an information management specialist and data provider, focusing on land and property data, specifically addressing and spatial referencing. IA managed the national datasets for local government; National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG) and National Street Gazetteer (NSG) and helped local government meet its objectives with these datasets.My role as a technical consultant was wide-ranging with overall respsponsibility for users of NLPG data under the local government Mapping Services Agreement.During my time I delivered successful consultancy to strategic clients such as Communities and Local Governement who renewed the agreement twice, each time at a value of over twice the original agreement.

Reporting to the Gazetteer Support Manager, I worked in a small team providing high quality first level support to customers. When i joined the company it had recently taken over management of the National Street Gazetteer (NSG) and I was brought in due to my experience in this area. Working closely with the NSG Custodian I helped to develop the NSG hub architecture and service propositions with particular responsibility for data quality.

Joining Derby City Council as a graduate I acted as the Local Street Gazetteer custodian for the organisation. During my time I successfully improved the street gazetteer from level 1 (the lowest possible) to level 3 (the highest) and trialled the use of mobile technology for highways inspections.
