Richard D. Fain has served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. He oversees the operation of company-owned cruise lines Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Club Cruises, as well as joint ventures TUI Cruises, Pullmantur and SkySea Cruises. Today Royal Caribbean Cruises operates 50 ships which carry more than five million guests each year to 540 ports on every continent. During his tenure, the company has persistently pushed the boundaries of what’s possible on a cruise vacation and become renowned for the innovations it introduces with each new generation of cruise ships. Those innovations span onboard attractions such as skydiving and surfing simulators to ice skating rinks, bumper cars and climbing walls. They also include true transformations in cruise ship design, from wraparound lounges and open-to-the air parks, to virtual balconies and multilevel stateroom suites. A dedicated steward and community member, Fain holds positions on numerous boards. He is chair of the University of Miami Board of Trustees, and serves on the board of the Posse Foundation and the executive committee of the World Travel and Tourism Council. He is former board chair of the Miami Business Forum, the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Cruise Lines International Association.
