Pablo PicassoI've worked in the environmental sciences for twenty years in different capacities and hold a doctorate in Environmental Science and Public Policy from George Mason University. Currently, I serve as the Division Director for Water Quality Programs at NEIWPCC, a regional commission that helps the states of the Northeast preserve and advance water quality. Previously, I directed the Washington Scholars Program and Special Partnerships in the Office of Admissions at George Mason University. As founding Program Director for the Washington Youth Summit on the Environment at George Mason University, I continue working to bring highly talented and motivated students to Washington, DC for a week of discussions and interactions with policy makers and experts on topics of environmental science, conservation, policy, law, advocacy and energy. My initial introduction to environmental science and policy was as a teen through a staff position in the Ecology and Conservation area of a summer camp for the Boy Scouts of America. Prior to my service as a hydrologic technician at the US Geological Survey’s Kansas Water Science Center in Lawrence, I attended the University of Kansas and earned a BS in Environmental Studies (Chemistry minor) and a MS in Environmental Science in the School of Engineering. Active in several student groups, upon graduation I was awarded the Rusty C. Leffel Concerned Student Award.My life principles:-Constantly look for opportunities to make the world a better place.-Learn by action/doing.-The time is now, don’t put off for tomorrow what can be done today.-Understand the needs and characteristics of the groups served and use their resources appropriately.-Communication is something that should always be practiced.
