I bought my first daguerreotype in 1974 when I was taking a History of Photography class at the University of Dayton. I have been hooked on photography since. I worked for the Dayton Art Institute before moving to San Francisco and working for art galleries. Then it was on to the Monterey Museum of Art where I advanced from photography curator to Executive Director. Currently I am the Director of the Weston Photography Gallery in Carmel.My passion encompasses is all things photographic - 19th, 20th, 21st century fine art photography. Daguerreotypes from my private collection are included in the 2007 and 2011 Daguerreian Annuals. I am well versed in archival conservation and preservation methods, the care and handling of rare prints, and collection management. DirectorWeston Photography Gallery 2005 - PresentCarmel, Ca And InternationalI represent the gallery and sell to collectors, corporations, and museums. I work with individuals and institutions to identify rare and original artwork that enhances their collections. As Director, consign inventory and advise gallery owner on potential purchases for gallery inventory, review new work, and coordinate bi-monthly exhibitions. I also work with living artists to identify new works of interest. Every year I participate in the Association of International of Art Photography Dealers (AIPAD), a fine art fair, in New York City.Here are some highlights from the last few years:• Worked with Maggi Weston and consulted with attorneys and Sotheby’s Vice Presidents on the 2007 auction, “Selected Photographs from the Private Collection of Margaret W. Weston.” Resulting in the successful sale of fine art photographs valued at $8M. • Designed and executed gallery upgrade including wall coverings, fixtures and viewing areas. Created prime display areas by utilizing space more creatively. • Advised gallery owner to purchase rare early 20th century photograph by an internationally known artist. Purchased completed within hours; sale ultimately earned $65,000 net profit. • Encouraged collector to consign rare, oversized Ansel Adams photograph through the Weston Gallery. Sale was in the six figures.* Reviewed photography portfolios for Center for Photographic Art Members’ night, May 2011.* Reviewed Professional Photographs portfolios at SPE West (Society for Photographic Education) 2011, hosted by Cabrillo College, Santa Cruz, CA.* Member of Jury Panel for Silvershotz: The International Journal of Contemporary Photography, Folios 2011.* Invited to attend October Conversation 2011, Center for Creative Photography, Tucson, AZ.

Executive Director And Curator Of PhotographyMonterey Museum Of Art 1995 - 2004Monterey, CaI directed day-to-day operations and managed staff of multi-site art museum. Oversaw management of permanent collection, exhibition program, in-house and outreach educational programs, marketing and fund raising activities. Developed and administered annual budget. Planned and organized exhibitions, solicited donations including half million dollar donation in support of photography programs, reviewed artists' work, and represented the Museum at community events.• Curated and lectured on Photographs of the Monterey Peninsula at the Ishikawa-Nanao Art Museum, Nanao, Japan. • Solicited and received a half million dollar gift from Miller and Bunny Outcalt in support of photography programs for the Monterey Museum of Art.• Selected images and made recommendations regarding photographers interviewed for documentary film The Roots of California Photography: The Monterey Legacy. The film serves to educate the public about the importance of art photography and captures the beauty of the Central California. It aired nationally on PBS in the spring of 2003. • Organized Passion and Precision: Photographs for the Collection of Margaret W. Weston exhibition. • Designed and curated Brett Weston: Sculpture and Photographs, which introduced the art world to the relationship between Weston’s photographs and his wood sculpture. -
Curator Of PhotographyMonterey Museum Of Art 1986 - 1995Monterey, CaI developed photography exhibition program; curated exhibitions ranging from contemporary regional photographers to historic vintage photographs. Presented gallery talks and briefed docents on photographic exhibitions. Organized and managed museum's permanent photography collection. Researched and selected prints for consideration by the Museum Acquisition Committee. Solicited photographs for the permanent collection. Instrumental in acquiring foundation funding for Photographic Views of Meiji: A Portrait of Old Japan and Brad Cole: Another Room. Traveled to Ecuador as museum representative with The Monterey Photographic Tradition: The Weston Years exhibition.• Selected state-of-the-art space saver storage systems for new 4 million dollar Jane and Justin Dart Wing. System enabled the museum to safeguard the collection, maintain accessibility, and increase storage capacity.• Invited to be guest instructor for the Regional Art History Course at California State University Monterey Bay. • Presented annual museum docent training on modern and historic photographic processes.• Selected state-of-the-art space saver storage systems for new $4M museum wing. -
