Writing and presenting Board papers.Key achievements include:• Led the development and implementation of a programme of world class labour market research from design and commissioning to dissemination with a budget of £4.3m and seven staff (ongoing) Findings are used by a range of stakeholders including two-fifths of Local Enterprise Partnerships• Co-designed, and commissioned a £250k programme of six research projects to support Sir Charlie Mayfield’s productivity review announced in the Chancellor’s emergency budget• Represented the organisation and built relationships with external stakeholders by delivering a key note presentation on London’s skills needs to over 100 delegates at the London Enterprise Panel Skills Summit. This resulted in an invitation from the Greater London Authority to discuss our data • Engaged 200 place based stakeholders through a series of local skills data workshops to support local decision making

Managing small teams and line management.Key achievements include:• Translated evidence in to action on priority policy areas by designing three funding competitions to encourage employers to design and test solutions to the identified challenge in each competition. Seventeen projects worth £4.8m were taken forward from 52 proposals • Provided over 100 high quality and written and oral briefings in 10 months for the UKCES Chair (Sir Charlie Mayfield, John Lewis) and CEO to support their external engagement activities• Successfully influenced the Coalition Government’s 11 Industrial Strategies by building relationships with stakeholders during a twelve-month secondment to the Department for Business Innovation and Skills• Designed and implemented a programme of strategic sector labour market research projects in response to financial and quality drivers. The programme saved £1m in its first year has successfully delivered 25 research projects to date to inform stakeholders decision making

Commissioning and managing the delivery of UK wide sectoral labour market information and evaluation projects. Key achievements include:• Achieved the buy-in of 25 Sector Skills Council CEO’s to the evaluation of the Sector Skills Agreement policy in 2007-8. The strategic oversight group of CEOs and the operational policy Group welcomed the results to as it provided them with an agenda for action• Submitted written briefing to the House of Commons Select Committee on Manufacturing Skills. Resulted in an invitation for SSDA to give oral evidence• Negotiated with partners to secure the SSDA’s preferred consultant to deliver the forecasting of skills needs created by the London 2012 Olympics. Managed the project and disseminated findings to inform partners’ actions

Conducting and managing commercial research in to sport policy, economics and management. Writing proposals and academic publicationsKey achievements include:• Led the fieldwork teams for the multiple economic impact studies e.g. The sport economy in Cornwall and the Isle of Scilly (Cornwall Enterprise/Cornwall and Isle of Scilly Sport Action Zone, 2004)• Authored and published case studies of best practice from Sport England’s National Benchmarking Service for leisure services in Managing Leisure: An International Journal (2004)• Arranged and conducted focus groups and interviews for the Valuing Volunteers in Sport in England study (Sport England, 2002).
