Appointed as a Senior Advisor on Financial Services for this economics consultancy. • Secured and led various projects on payments issues – a new practice area for CEPA. This included a major project validating how charging should work for the UK’s new cheque imaging system. • Built and developed the team, bringing in new highly-skilled team members to diversify and improve the team’s offering including a new lawyer, economist and accountant. • Supported the development of the reputation of the team ensuring all members where up to date and fully understood new regulations and issues that would impact their work. This contributed to securing a position on the tender list for economic and accounting jobs with major clients including the FCA, the Payment Systems Regulator and the Bank of England.

Tajikistan

Appointed as a Non-Executive Director of this microcredit institution in Tajikistan to support, advise and guide the business, particularly on the development of their long-term strategy. This has included attending bi-annual board meetings, developing a balanced scorecard that combines business and social objectives and providing coaching and development services to the owner of the business.

Chelmsford

Development (jointly with Dr Andrea Winkelmann-Gleed) of a series of business coaching relationships in both the UK and overseas. This has involved both quantitative work (preparing business plans and financial projections) and the use of Creative Problem Solving approaches to challenge development plans.

I was a member of the initial team at the new Payments Systems Regulator which will become operational April 2015. I worked on the policies for the Payment Strategy Forum and new governance arrangements for the interbank schemes and card operators set out in the consultation paper (see http://www.fca.org.uk/psr/our-consultation) and the forthcoming Policy Statement. He also led on the PSR’s work with Accenture for the Accenture Governance Report (see http://www.fca.org.uk/your-fca/psr/accenture-governance-report).

I moved into financial services in 1997, and spent 18 months setting up the Post Office Card Account - a basic bank account for unbanked benefit claimants.
