My IT career has been filled with an incredible variety of technical and personal challenges. The goal is automation, minimum alerts and exception reporting, as much as possible!In Florida, work as an developer, (title was Programmer Analyst, back in the day!), building databases of proprietary company data that I later uploaded into SAP R/3, crafting requirements, design documents, scripting, coding and working those raw data loads, coding ABAP, running Basis uploads, and working as Oracle DBA.Is there a finish line? Once you are over it, there is another race to run, but unlike the ‘no finish line’ philosophy, after a race well run, is there time to relax, to take stock, train and prepare for the next race. There is work life balance, we individually are not continuously running … but your systems are ... Calculating yardage, ordering the pumper and mixer truck, and actually running the end of the nozzle, filling the ICFs (insulated concrete forms) with mud and vibrating & tamping down. A summer job with lifelong skills, even if not used in a very long time!There is more to my busy life, such as my recent trip to Ireland with my wife Sheri, on the trail of her DNA, searching backwards through time.
