Classic business revival story. Australian manufacturer of merino wool blankets and throws for retail, hotels, airlines and export. Waverley was established in 1874 in Tasmania, by 1991 had few customers except tourists and a relationship with Country Road. Key objective was to win market share and generate volume to get the factory and business up and running. My primary responsibilities were sales, marketing, product development and business strategy. By 1995 Waverley was the leading brand and supplier to the Australian retail market. Over the period to 2004 the plant was progressively upgraded with new carding, spinning, weaving and finishing, innovative capabilities developed and new products and brands launched. New markets were developed in export, the airline sector with Qantas and our own trading company in the US focused on customers in the mail order and emerging ecommerce market. Sold interest and exited the business in 2004
