About Richard Harms

I'm currently a Solution Architect for Stores for Casey's.I was previously a Senior Software Engineer at Source Allies, Inc. where I worked with a number of projects for our clients. In addition to software development, I've also assisted with proposals and researching the architecture for upcoming projects.Outside work, I'm involved in a number of local user's groups (CIALUG, CIJUG), where I try to share some of my experiences from work and personal projects, as well as learn from what others have accomplished. I also volunteer with the Central Iowa Figure Skating Club and am the president of the board of directors. I'm also an avid ice skater and enjoy playing and coaching hockey. When not working on software projects, I've been working to develop my film and video production skills (I was the organizer and director for a team entered in the 2010 through 2014 Des Moines 48 Hour Film Projects). While we haven't won any awards, we pulled together entirely volunteer teams of incredibly hard working and enthusiastic individuals that succeeded at producing short films in just one weekend. I was also the producer for the Anime Today podcast and D League Radio which provided live streaming audio and video coverage of hockey.Specialties:• Software Development (Java, Java EE, Wildfly, JBoss and JBoss Clustering, C#, WPF, MySQL, Subversion, Git)• Software Lifecycle (GitLab (DevOps, CI/CD, planning), GitHub, Jira, Confluence)• System Administration (Linux (RedHat, CentOS), Windows, Mac OS X)• Network Administration (Ubiquiti UniFi, Synology, Brocade, HP, Cisco, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, Security)• Virtualization (VMware, iSCSI, NFS, other SAN and NAS storage)• Compliance (PCI-DSS, PA-DSS)• Podcast Production (Logic Pro X, assorted audio gear)• Video and Audio Production (Final Cut Pro X, Logic Pro X, assorted video/audio gear)
