EXPERIENCE My experience over the last 30 years has been in bringing new products into production at medical device start-up companies. For the past 16 years, I have been involved in the Radio Frequency aesthetics field with Thermage (now Solta Medical) first consulting 2 years with R&D on their first commercial product offering, then as Sr. Director of Manufacturing for 7 years followed by Managing Director of Product Realization within R&D for an additional year to lead a Handpiece mechanical design group and finally for another 4 years providing consulting services to both R&D and Operations groups within Solta. As you can see I have played many roles in my time. This depth and breadth of experience can make a critical difference in the life of a start up company. My current interests are not limited to only a full-time position but also to Tactical and/or Strategic consulting services. Directly responsible for Manufacturing Engineering, Vendor selection, Headcount and Facility planning to support targeted annual gross.Achievements• Directed the production release of the NXT Radio Frequency Device to Manufacturing at Thermage in 2007. Participated in supplier selection and was fully responsible for managing the engineering transfer of the sub-assemblies and component parts.• Reduced standard time on disposable Treatment Tips by 75%, while achieving a >98% yield.• Ramped Production from less than 1,000 units per month to 18,000. Doubling capacity in just one month. “Grew” Manufacturing department from 5 total with 4 directs to 19 total with 5 directs (efficiency also increased 4x during this period).• Directed Manufacturing move into and validation of new facility with 60,000-unit/month capacity.• Participated in concurrent engineering development with R&D, initiated efficiency-based Production bonuses, achieved time reduction in WIP by 40% and EC compliant packaging.• Lead evaluation R&D team in the investigation and Identification of Low Global Warming cryogen gases for potential R134a replacement. • Researched alternate dielectric materials and built prototypes using various materials including ceramics and poly crystalline diamond. • Authored Biocompatibility studies.• Investigated barrier materials to enhance dielectric strength of materials.• Engineered and put into production a Coupling Fluid for Thermage Radio Frequency treatments.• Designed, had built and validated a novel Pressure Decay Leak Tester for the Production line. -
