We coached, facilitated and taught how to lead change, develop culture, design strategy and “how to show up” as a leader.Everything changed on September 11, 2001. Complexity, wicked problems and societal change were now everyday issues and leaders were expected to understand how to address those challenges.Human Securities changed too. We embraced the Adaptive Leadership methodology developed by Ron Heifetz and Marty Linsky at Harvard. I went to Oxford and HEC in 2006 to study change and I wrote a dissertation titled Adapting Adaptive Leadership. I committed to adaptive leadership because the world was a different place. I believe that adaptive capacity is the min-spec required to lead.A leader’s level of adult development must be at least equal to the complexity the organization faces or there will be trouble. Some enterprises will not adapt fast enough and that will be a failure of leadership. We help leaders in local government, NGO’s global foundations, US healthcare and commercial enterprises. The global environment is in trouble, political populism is a growth sector, inequality is a systemic problem and we have no place to put our garbage. If there is any hope to solve these types of challenges, we will need leadership with the capability to mobilize thousands of people to take on this hard work. Human Securities mission is to develop 2000 adaptive leaders around the world by the end of 2023.
