This year (2021) has allowed me to reach one of my adult life goals. I am now a U.S.C.G. OUPV 6-pack captain and I have upgraded to 100T Master Captain including a Towing Endorsement. This has been a goal for me since I have been on the water 40+ years. It will also serve as a gateway to retirement one day.With over 31 years in the metals service center industry, my focus has been in the areas of:Understanding the customer and their needs, Understanding people and their motives, Critical thinking and problem solving, Personal development, Strategic marketing I have held the positions of Procurement, Operations, Sales, Product Management, and Management. I am considered to be a SME (subject matter expert) for aluminum and stainless grades. This knowledge has helped many customers with cost saving innovative breakthroughs in their manufacturing processes. Whether it was an alloy change, a custom extruded shape, tooling or corrosion analysis, my inquisitive nature has helped play a key role with many companies to assist them to expand their product offerings, reduced scrap, increased productivity and in doing so increased their sales & profitability. There is great joy in seeing customers and clients reap the benefits of allowing me and the company I represent to assist them. This makes having a customer/vendor relationship invaluable. As a manager, I look at my position from an entrepreneur point of view: mentoring co-workers, build a team environment, listening, incremental improvements, strategic planning, cost savings, safety, employee development, customer service and community. My goal is to bring value to the customer, care about their business success and ultimately earning their trust and capturing their business.
