About Richard Kemp

I am a mature aged person, planning to stay active in the workforce as long as possible. I have recently made a shift in focus to Community Care. Towards this goal, I am enrolled in TAE Certificate and Diploma of Counselling. This is so I can use my previous skills in Retail and Business Management to continue to contribute. I have had limited experience in Support Services by your standard, but not as far as people in general are concerned. I have all relevant accredited requirements to work with people, including having completed NDIS basic level introduction. My communication skills have been honed over my lifetime, I believe these to be adaptable to any age group and level of understanding. My negotiation skills have also been instrumental in my access in all my endeavours throughout my career. My move into community support comes from my strong belief that there are far too many people who do not have access to support that enables them to progress and be skilled enough to progress to self-support at whatever level. Because I came from a background in retail and business my work life has always included monitoring of results and improvements, I believe these skills are very transferable on this level. My opinion is that all interactions within any environment must be supportive of exceptional or functional relationships with all stakeholders. Communication is at times complex I find that if done with openness and inclusion are greater understanding is achieved. Finally, I live my life by a firm set of morals and values modelled on those of my family honesty, integrity, openness and faith. Professional experience is 58years of life and 40 years in retail and people.I have the ability to create and maintain an environment that is motivating and productive as well as fun. I have been fortunate to be allied to a lot of excellent teams that were extraordinarily successful. I maintain a high standard for myself and those that I ally with. While I have only just commenced on this new journey, I am hoping that several my skills from previous career will transition favourably to my new course. While this position may not be within my scope in your opinion, I keep my options open for discussion.NB Current QLD Drivers Licence, Fully registered and Comprehensively insured motor vehicle, Blue Card and Yellow card exemption holder, current Police Clearance, First Aid and CPR Certificate ( both current), Completed NDIS Orientation Module.
