Richard is an independent director at Clearwater, servicing hedge funds and private equity vehicles under a variety of structures and strategies. At Clearwater he will also be combining his finance and governance background with his authentic desire and demonstrable experience to ensure the responsible growth and implementation of ESG, reporting solutions around ESG and advisory around the specific frameworks, particularly TCFD.

Project lead on the transfer of both operations and team - including at the most senior level from Barbados to Cayman. Help recruit, build and train the initial team.

Strategic• Recommended a change in direction and focus for the overall group by exiting the retail sector to focus on and develop the core financial services businesses.• Played a lead role in both assessing business opportunities and executing these when appropriate across all the different industries and sectors. • Pivotal in cash planning to ensure that growth goals were achieved (the group has grown five-fold) and sustained, thus providing for future opportunities, despite the macro economic meltdown. • Central to the international expansion that now sees DMS operate in seven global centres.Team Leadership• Overhauled the finance function so that it became a respected and consistently proactive department through high performance management and greater emphasis on technology.• Built the team around increased individual quality, vastly improved team work and by providing the autonomy required for the combination to flourish.• Changed the dynamic of the team to include 50% Caymanians under the age of twenty-five. Personally mentored, coached and encouraged each member of the team and continue to closely monitor their progress.• Adapted the structure of the department to meet the different business needs and international expansion.Operational• Introduced group wide financial planning which resulted in heightened learning, appreciation and focus on results.• Implemented fiscally based performance incentives entity wide. • Led the implementation of ten new fully operational entities and the exit of five. • Developed successful relationships with key external service providers ranging from auditors and bankers to regulators and legal counsel.

This was done through a thorough a budgeting process that I personally introduced.• Undertook successfully the managerial role, on site, for the audit of the firm’s largest client. This involved leading a team of five people. • Mentored and assisted a new trainee, who was having a number of difficulties, to successfully take over some of my responsibilities.
