Rich brings over 25 years of experience designing, leading, and maintaining the implementation and assurance frameworks for organizational information. I began my career developing the foundation of operational and technical skills during my 15 years of military service with the U.S. Marine Corps Intelligence Community, concluding his military service as the Regimental Intelligence Chief. I continued my passion for protecting information and creating sound cyber risk practices when I transitioned to the private sector, as a consultant with KPMG providing security services for various public, private, and governmental institutions and subsequently assumed a senior leadership role with the Royal Bank of Scotland - Citizens Bank leading the institution’s regulatory and data protection programs.Prior to my current role, I served as the Chief Information Security Officer at New York Life Insurance Company. In this role, I implemented an agile and transformational Information security program that fostered an integrated “Intelligence and Risk” culture and program, providing executive management with a business focused view of the company’s cyber risks landscape. In my off hours I have served on numerous industry and client advisory boards, and have been an Adjunct Professor at Salve Regina University and a Staff Lecturer at Northeastern University Graduate Information Assurance programs. In addition to my past University lectures, I am frequently a featured speaker at numerous industry conferences and an author of the Cyber Intelligence- Driven Risk book and a contributing author of the Computer Security Handbook versions 5 & 6. My post military life I earned a masters in information assurance from Norwich University and my undergraduate from the University of Rhode Island. Additionally, I have held numerous industry certifications during his career, but only actively maintain my Certified Information Systems Security Professional and Certified Information Security Manager designations.
