In December 2004 I was approached by the DCI in charge of the North East Regional Intelligence Cell, who was investigating the possibility of introducing a Hi-Tech examination unit to be incorporated into the structure of the RIC. I produced a budget and then procured all the new equipment for the unit. Following a successful interview in March 2005 I took up my new position in the RIC in April 2005. I assembled all of the equipment that I had previously ordered and set up all the software, hardware and network for the new unit. The NE-RIC expanded and became the North East Counter Terrorism Unit and the Hi-Tech Unit expanded to a staff of 9. My employment with West Yorkshire Police began as in the Scene of Crime Department based in Killingbeck, Leeds. As Leeds was one of the busiest divisions of the West Yorkshire Force I quickly gained experience dealing with every type of crime imaginable. I have also worked in Bradford and Wakefield as a trainer for Volume Crime Examiners and other SOCO's.
