We have since evolved from a one town, one location Bank to three locations, with our Founding Lenawee County office in Onsted, main office in Brooklyn, and a lending office in Ann Arbor. We meet the needs of communities in three different counties, Lenawee, Jackson, and Washtenaw and service customers primarily in these market areas, but also throughout southern Michigan.We are a Community Bank with a team who take the word Community seriously. It was a privilege to lead a talented credit administration team and United Bank & Trust's initiative to improve asset quality and underwriting practices. The team was responsible for risk management of the portfolio, including: underwriting, credit approval process, loan documentation and regulatory examinations. Together with our sales partners we stemmed the credit losses, reduced loan loss provision, and improved the risk rating profile of the portfolio. These actions returned the Bank to profitability, strengthening the valuation in the sale to Old National Bank in August, 2014.

I joined United Bank and Trust, a leading community bank, as leader of the Lenawee County commercial lending banking team. We worked successfully to meet the unique needs of our central Michigan clients while substantially improving the risk rating of the group’s portfolio. I was also responsible for the small business lending team, consumer collections, bank-owned real estate departments, and built the Bank’s first dedicated Special Assets Group.

I was recruited back to KeyBank to lead middle market development in Michigan. Our team had great success and was ranked #1 of 32 teams nationally in 2006 and #2 in 2008 for year-over-year growth. The team handled both the lower and upper ends of the middle market in Michigan. Loan syndications were also an important part of the portfolio mix to both diversify risk and drive revenue. We partnered and led many multi-bank deals. The team worked collaboratively with credit to solve complex problems for our clients. We drove value for shareholders by expanding profit contribution and reducing the risk in the revenue streams.

As leader of portfolio and development efforts in the Ann Arbor market, I was recognized as one of the Bank’s top performing commercial bankers for three years. My portfolio was a hybrid of large middle market and large corporate clients, including the two regulated integrated utilities in Michigan, as well as a global producer of printing inks and compounds. I had the distinction of delivering the single largest interest rate swap ABN AMRO (the parent bank) had booked in the U.S. at the time. I also delivered the single largest private placement bond issue ABN AMRO had booked while I was there too.

In this effort, I provided financing solutions in both U.S. dollars and Mexican pesos, as well as letter of credit, foreign exchange and treasury management services.
