My first job out of collage was for Calma in San Jose California. Calma a was pioneer in the CAD computer software arena. The GDSII computer graphics layout format created by Calma is still in use today as a de-facto standard in the IC industry for exchanging of layout data. I was hired to work on a commercial Printed Circuit Board(PCB) application named T-Boards. It included schematic capture, Auto place and route, and all the CAM outputs. I was assigned to write the Pen Plotting application software. After 2 years, I was made a project leader over the CAM outputs including my software Pen Plotting, Photo Plotting, and NC Drill. I remained at Calma until the division was sold to Valid Logic in July of 1988 at which time I took a job in Tempe Arizona in the Motorola Semiconductor Product Sector - Central CAD Group 'Sector CAD' under the able management of Jeff LaVelle.
