Currently CTO at AstroAgency Ltd, with approaching 30 years experience in technical and management roles in complex projects in the space and IT sectors, including systems engineering, project and programme management experience, as well as 20 years experience of UK commercial rocket projects, and over 30 years experience of personal rocket projects.Having been involved with, or have managed commercial rocket projects ranging from expendable vertical orbital launchers, single stage to orbit spaceplanes, sub orbital sounding rockets and atmospheric rocketsondes., I have experience and a proven track record in successfully delivering projects across the full lifecycle from design, development to delivery and operations, and with multi-national teams.I was involved with the technical delivery of a number of firsts in UK rocketry, including the design and static test of the first UK built hybrid rocket motor, and the first UK built hybrid motor powered rocket launched in the UK, as well as a rocket that holds the altitude record for the highest altitude reached by a hybrid rocket in the UK.I believe passionately in the goal of seeing humanity expand out into space, and my career, even when not directly working on space projects, has been focused towards that goal, whether through direct technical involvement, management or strategic foresight.I previously set up CyberThinc Limited, my consultancy company, in 1996. Through CyberThinc (IT and Strategic Foresight) and Stellardyne (Space), I have had the opportunity to provide solutions for a wide range of businesses ranging from small launchers, avionics and payloads, rocket propulsion test services, trajectory analysis, astrodynamics, Bayesian statistics, game theory through to systems engineering, programme management, enterprise architecture and strategic foresight.Long term strategic partners have included Airborne Engineering, Raptor Aerospace and Commercial Space Technology, with work on services including launch analysis, trajectory analysis, spaceport analysis, test analysis, and products including rocketsonde development, avionics and telemetry development and flight testing.I have also served on the Council of the British Interplanetary Society for the last 15 years, including Chairing the Technical Committee for several years, and before that, Chaired the Safety and Technical Committee of the UK Rocketry Association for 6 years, liaising with regulatory bodies such as the CAA and HSE, regarding issues of national and local policy for launch vehicles.
