Dr. Pinson is an educator, administrator, and healthcare consultant specializing in inpatient and outpatient ICD-10, CPT-4, E&M, HCC, DRG, pay-for-performance and regulatory documentation improvement, as well as operational documentation improvement processes to optimize efficiency and productivity.He is coauthor of the highly acclaimed, authoritative inpatient "CDI Pocket Guide", "Outpatient CDI Pocket Guide: Focusing on HCCs", CDI apps and "CDI for the Clinician" remote microlearning. For the past 7 years, Dr. Pinson has written the monthly “Coding Corner” column for the American College of Physician’s "ACP Hospitalist" magazine providing documentation, medical necessity and coding advice to physicians.He has been a featured speaker at local, state and national meetings including the American College of Physicians, Society of Hospital Medicine, American Health Information Management Association, Association of Clinicical Documentation Improvement Specialists, and the American Case Management Association.He completed Internal Medicine residency and fellowship at Vanderbilt and the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, is board certified in Internal Medicine as well as Emergency Medicine, and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
