Richard deputised as Technical Director.

Strip Products produces steel for demanding sectors such as; Automotive, Lifting and Excavating, Energy & Power, Packaging, Construction and Defense. Richard deputised as Technical Director.

It operates in 44 countries and has sales of approximately $7 billion.Richard managed Neath, an autonomous manufacturing site employing 350 people and with a turnover of £75m. Neath was a quality and service critical operation supplying just in time to branded goods manufacturers in the Food sector, such as Mars.

Corus Packaging Plus was an Anglo-Dutch multinational. Richard led operations at Corus’ Trostre site which had a turnover of £225m p.a. 670 people worked in Operations.

Richard was recruited as a graduate trainee and completed a formal management skills training programme, including placements in manufacturing, sales, personnel, finance and R&D. He moved into operations and was promoted to Shift Manager, Section Manager, Manufacturing Manager and then Technical Manager. He also spent time seconded to Project Engineering, designing, installing and commissioning capital equipment. Richard was selected for British Steel’s Advanced Management Development Programme and was sponsored to do an MBA. He was selected for two engineer exchange programmes and worked in both the Netherlands and Japan.
