I am a British national with thirty years' experience acting for English-speaking clients in French business law matters and for French clients in their international business. My practice covers contentious and advisory work and for many of my English-speaking clients with interests in France my role is often similar to that of an in-house counsel.Originally admitted to the Bar of England in Wales (1986), I have practised in Paris since 1990 and was admitted to the Paris Bar in 1992.My principal areas of practice are international commercial dispute resolution, commercial contracts, employment law and real estate, although I have dealt most areas of business law over the years.I am one of the few British nationals appearing as an advocate before the French courts, both at first instance and on appeal.I have considerable experience in cross-border disputes raising issues of private international law and in particular questions of jurisdiction and enforcement.I have acted as counsel and arbitrator in international commercial arbitrations and am trained as a mediator (IFOMENE in France and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in England). I am an accredited mediator and arbitrator of the CMAP (Centre de Médiation et d'Arbitrage de Paris) and am an approved mediator on the list of the Court of Appeal of Paris.I have many years' experience of negotiating and drafting commercial contracts (including sale of goods, distribution and joint ventures), with particular expertise in the field of commercial agency.In employment law, in addition to my contentious work, I assist clients in non-contentious matters (contracts, working conditions, performance management, non-competition and termination). Given the difficulties encountered by English-speaking groups in this field, I also assist by liaising with accountants and payroll managers to ensure that clients have all the legal and administrative assistance they require.In the field of real estate law, I have vast experience of contentious matters and transactions in the sectors of residential or commercial property.
