After taking on the president role in 2021 following six years on the unit's committee in varying roles, I am proud to be handing this on to the incoming president following the AGM late August 2023. The experience this role provided is too vast to cover in a short text block, but I am proud to have served the unit and committee, continuing to build on solid foundation of a 30 year old rescue unit and support the wider Coastguard New Zealand team, ensuring we continued to deliver the outstanding service we at North Shore are known for, empowering the operations team to manage the day to day response, and transition the committee to a future focused group. The focus for the first year was to write and implement the new constitution for coming act changes, and bed in the efforts of the last few years empowering the operations team. Second year was continuing to support the ops team in keeping our SAR function operating at a high level, while conducting a strategic planning exercise to set and document a direction for the unit moving forward, "The strategic plan" to be finalized and implemented Q4 2023.
