Richard delivers Executive and Leadership Coaching through Meon Coaching and Consulting. He is an executive coach with over 25 years’ experience in business. He held several commercial leadership positions including his time on the board of IBM’s Public Sector business where he had profit responsibility for the £150M Defence Consulting and Technology practice. Richard has also led other teams eg the Naval Diving team, the Government Carbon Budgets team, and the IBM Middle East and US team in the Oil and Gas business. During his time in business and Public Sector, Richard has seen the transformational impact that effective coaching can have with individuals and teams he has led. He has seen the subtle difference between occasions when there is a need to set direction with a clear vision and times when consultation and collaboration is required.

Over a 22 year period I had commercial and leadership roles managing businesses with P&L responsibility. I had ross sector roles selling services, technology and systems integration to provide risk bearing solutions. Geographic focus was UK, USA, Europe and Middle East. The industry focus was on Government, Defence & Security and Energy. Ran a £150M business for IBM for 8 years. ( 15 month secondment to Government - see separate section)

Led IBM's engagement with BP with technology, consulting, IT outsourcing and business process outsourcing.

Led the team that was responsible for the execution of the plans to achieve the UK's legally binding carbon reduction targets eg 34% by 2020 and 80% by 2050. Major milestone was the delivery of the Carbon Reduction delivery plans for all 9 economic sectors of the economy in March 2010. These plans were owned by individual departments and confirmed the intent and plan to drive down carbon emissions through critical hard policy levers.

Led the business development for Public Sector Business Process Outsourcing for IBM. The focus was on on shared services, social security , citizen access transformation and emergency planning eg Flu epidemic and animal health crises.

Led IBM's Defence and Security Business quadrupling revenue in both technology and systems integration contracts. Specific engagements included delivery of the new UK Air Defence system post 9/11 and a major transformation in the core UK based security systems.

Navigator and Diver at the height of the cold war and the South Atlantic conflict. Led Royal Marine diving team for a 2 year period. Supervised leadership training at HMS Royal Arthur. Ran Junior officer Training in HMS Illustrious. The Navy sponsored me to trek to Everest Base Camp Mount Everest in 1977.
