Outline:Working in a busy lighting design department at the Eaton Doncaster site with responsibility to test all new product designs to ensure they are fully compliant with the relevant British standards and electrical safety requirements and to give technical support to the production facility.Key Responsibilities:• Test all new product designs to ensure they meet electrical safety requirements and are fully compliant with the relevant British standards. Tests carried out include EMC, thermal and photometry.• Responsible for the final approval of electrical drawings for production • Test existing stock product to ensure ongoing product quality• Give technical support to production• Give technical support to the quality department for customer concerns• Design and implement new test equipment for both the design test labs and production lines• Writing functional test procedures for production and defining power limits for the functional testing• Manage workload of both myself and a technician working in the lab.• Ensure all test equipment is calibrated and maintain accurate records Key Achievements/Projects:• The design and introduction of a barcode traceability system such that every product leaving the production line was identified with a unique barcode and was fully traceable as to where and when it was manufactured and the tester who approved it. As well as giving full product traceability, the system is also used by production engineering for production line timings.• The introduction and ongoing support of power meters on every production line to ensure every product running down the production line was built correctly using the correct components. This was introduced following numerous customer complaints and has since eliminated the problem as all errors are now identified and corrected at the testing stage.
Test Engineering Technician
Key Responsibilities:• Design, build and implementation of Test Equipment to customer specifications • Writing software for test solutions using Visual basic and PIC assembler incorporating serial communication protocols such as I2C, RS232 and Dallas 1 wire• Writing and updating of in-house calibration and test procedures• Carry out and document electrical safety inspections of all test equipment• To design and build one-off printed circuit boards• Giving technical support to debug and maintenance technicians
