My position was to run discovery, diagnose issues, create resolutions, set up projects, and drive those solutions to success for companies in the SMB market. IT refit projects were scoped from the micro to the macro. This is to say, every aspect from base printing centralization to business continuity planning is potentially included in the scope.When not in project, I would roll into next-level support for customer ticket resolution and/or general management of our MSP systems.

Remotely manage, monitor servers and workstations for companies and individuals. Network installation and troubleshooting. Server diagnostic / server design and build.

Directly worked with IT management to evaluate and prioritize areas of issue and then design remediation projects.Evaluate and remodel cooling and power distribution for onsite data center. Define limitations and cost matrix for redesign. Create documentation for current limitations and solutions for Sr. Staff presentation. Installed HPIM and automated update solution for servers / printers. Administrator for the VMWare ESXi server cluster. Designed backup / DR / Business Continuity solution with budget alignment and ROI datasheet.

Responsibilities Included: company targeting small to medium business with addition to end user support, similar to the Entex/Siemens business model scaled down. After two struggling years the company was still unable to return a reliable and constant profit due to over saturated market region. Below is a summary of skill sets used.Security based issues, network or viral. I designed disaster recovery methods and cleansed infected networks and systems. Audit and secure routers and firewalls. SOC serveries. Troubleshooting issues with servers and workstations & data recovery. Troubleshooting help desk problems such as network connectivity, Etc.

The goal was a lights out approach with an autonomous self sufficient infrastructure model where engineering was not affected by IT outages or upgrade schedules which could be detriment to product release schedules. A large subset of that goal was the lights out approach, defined by deploying infrastructure to allow engineers the capability to design, test and eventually QA product from their office area or remotely.] [Analyze current limitations and design roadmap for success][Deploy fully autonomous Windows resource domain, which included mirrored servers for DNS, WINS, DC Controllers and migrate 1800+ Windows servers. Deploy NIS for all Unix based servers.][Deploy centralized security and anti-virus capability across all engineering farms.][Design and deploy disaster recovery philosophy, such as SAN backups of engineering testing, UPS deployments, IP based switching terminal power strips to balance power outage on load spikes.][Design and deploy remote connectivity, I helped design and influence the needs of the initial deployments of IP KVM systems with our partner Avocent. I setup processes and procedures for consolidating servers and services needed by both engineering and users. Designed and implemented server room reconstruction from unreliable platform to redundant enterprise level.][I standardized all servers to this flexible platform and redesigned server room racking and networking to match. Which entailed of me creating all of the scripting, setting up of the servers and bandwidth calculations, and training my crew on process and implementation procedures, data storage design, tape rotations and disaster recovery process. I oversaw these migrations to completion as the senior technical contact and reported to our National Project Manager. I built systems and sold them as a hobby. I also would go to auctions then buy bulk systems and repair them for resale. This was a great way to learn system OS and hardware.
