I currently lead on hospital operational development for Nuffield Health, but I have had a long and varied pathway that contributes to my knowledge and experience in this role. My degree was in Sports Science, which underpinned my first role as a gym instructor with Holmes Place, later on I moved more specifically into the world of Personal Training. I was never a 'typical' Personal Trainer, I was always more interested in the scientific side, GP populations, disease management and prevention, I read and studied a lot and got most from working with unwell clients whose lives I could seriously make a difference to, my interest was always in medicine and research. This led to me completing a post graduate diploma in Obesity Science & management with Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. My current Nuffield journey started when the organisation purchased the Cannons gym chain in 2007. Nuffield created the 'Senior Wellbeing Advisor' role, leading on the new Health MOT - a comprehensive physiological and lifestyle assessment that built the foundations for training and wellbeing programs for our members. This was a great move for me and allowed me to develop my skills even further into physiology, lifestyle, change management, nutrition and goal setting whilst making a difference to our members lives, I remember some great examples of entirely changed lives and outlooks from these assessments.I later took over the management of all Wellbeing activities in the Nuffield Heath Harrogate Fitness & wellbeing Centre, including fitness, swimming & group exercise. A little while later, I was fortunate to become the organisations very first Wellbeing Manager to achieve CQQ registered Clinic Manager status as I took over management of our on-site integrated wellbeing clinic. In this role I was responsible for GP led Health screening, nutritional therapy, physiotherapy and some Consultant led satellite clinics from our Tees Hospital site. In this environment I learnt a great deal about hospital and wellbeing services and realised that this is where I wanted to work in the future.I finally entered the hospital world as a Sales & services Manager in our York Hospital. A member of the Senior Management team I learnt all aspects of hospital operational management and sales, what it takes to run an efficient hospital and provide the very best in class services for our patients and partners. My 6 years of operational experience set me up nicely for my current role in helping to shape the future of healthcare in our organisation.
