Richard V. Rupp is an award-winning author of crime novels. His first novel "Death and Taxes" won an award from the Independent Book Publishers Association for Best New Voice in Fiction. His second novel "Death on the High Seas" continues the FBI Special Agent Hartmann series. He is published by Archway Publishing, a division of Simon & Schuster and the novels are available on Amazon.com.FBI Special Agent Dick Hartmann who has a carefree attitude about life. He has a tendency to drink too much and likes the girls. A trust fund allows him to enjoy life to the fullest extent. After college, he joined the U.S. Army and ended up in its Finance Corps. In this capacity, instead of handling traditional finance matters, Hartmann became as part of a covert team on a mission in North Korea. While in the Army, Hartmann was involved in a bar fight that resulted in the death of his girlfriend. This incident continues to haunt him.Before becoming an author, Mr. Rupp worked over the span of his career as a risk management consultant working for corporate clients, as well as in executive capacities for major insurance brokers and insurance companies.At Marsh & McLennan, his colleagues dubbed him “The Professor” as he worked with a Marsh unit based in New York that developed many of the risk management concepts currently in use today. Dick served on three Marsh special task forces that sought to resolve the problems of lack of industry capacity, the medical malpractice, and products liability crises, and established the first captive insurance company out of the Marsh LA Office. Later Dick joined Continental Insurance Companies as the Regional VP for Continental Risk Services. He worked directly with John B. Ricker, Jr., Continental’s Chairman on Fortune 500 Accounts and Special Projects. During this period Dick was one of the principal writers and editors of Continental’s Circle Agents Insurance & Risk Management Manuals.At California Casualty Dick developed one of the first EPLI Programs.Dick resides in Burbank, California.
