☑ MY EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE:With more than 25+ years of operational leadership and people management experience in the fire services industry, I take a wider, holistic view of a business before implementing transformational change. I am respected for reengineering ineffective processes, and humanizing impersonal systems to improve ways of working. As a people leader, I am valued for building, training, developing, coaching, and mentoring high caliber teams. In addition, I create reward systems that encourage employee initiative and dedication. As a trusted advisor, I partner with Human Resources and other functions to assist with the facilitation of positive culture and effective systems and programs. As an entrepreneurial-minded professional, I have owned several successful businesses. I established the Third Alarm Coffee Company, which sold coffee to hotels and restaurants in and around San Diego County. In addition, I led integrated marketing campaigns across social media—amassing over 2.8K followers. I sold the company for a profit.Additionally, I found Kassel Band, an e-commerce business dedicated to promoting positive affirmations in girls through the use of headbands. As a “girl dad,” I wanted to establish a company that focused on raising empowered women. What better way to begin than to create headbands with positive affirmations on them, so that each day I would be reminded to affirm my daughter and her place in this world.I am also the author of two best-selling books on Amazon, Serving Without Selling, A Fresh Reminder, and Divergent Leadership.☑ MY NOTABLE CAREER ACHIEVEMENTS:✮ Functioned as a Type 1 Public Information Officer (PIO) on the CAL FIRE Major Incident Management Team from 2018 to 2022 to manage large-scale incidents that dramatically impact communities throughout California.✮ Served as a Deputy Director with the California State Firefighters Association (CSFA) and Chair of the (LEDS) Committee to advance the fire service workforce throughout California.✮ Established and built the Chula Visit Fire Department’s first Recruitment Program from the ground up and served as a Recruitment Officer for the Chula Vista Fire Department from 2002 to 2012.✮ Dramatically improved communications during major incidents by working closely with utility companies in the areas of safety and information coordination and managing Major Incident Team (IMT) rosters for public information.
