NOTE: I don't check LinkedIn often, so if you're looking for a speedy response, this really isn't the channel. I thought I retired in 2020, but I got bored. Really. Quickly. So I helped raise over $575M @ Alkuri to help bring digital health pioneer Babylon Health to the NYSE (IPO #3). After that the plan was to invest in (Works Capital) and advise (The Value Studio) technology companies in marketplaces, fintech and vertical SaaS, helping teams build, scale and operate with excellence in a variety of roles, from board director to interim operator. That's been fun, and recently led me to step into an operating role for Built technologies, a vertical SaaS company in construction and real estate.Prior to this chapter, I spent close to a decade with Groupon, serving as CEO from 2015-2020. We built one of the fastest growing and most recognized brands online, with 100 million+ unique visitors monthly, over $3B in annual revenue and 1.5 billion+ Groupons sold. It was an incredible and challenging experience: we successfully restructured the company, set a bold vision and strategy to focus on winning in local, and established operational excellence at scale. We also reignited the company's innovation engine, drove a culture of ownership, and returned the core business back to double-digit growth while adding over $100m of annual AEBITDA. All good stuff, but I'm most proud of the team we built: a dozen and counting are now CEOs.I'm an operator, but my career is rooted in leading some of the largest growth marketing programs and brands in the world. Prior to growing Groupon’s active customer base to over 57 million in 40+ countries as global CMO, I ran a variety of global Marketing and Advertising teams and technologies at Amazon, where I built scalable software to manage Amazon’s marketing and advertising programs while bringing brand building back to Amazon (remember those stop motion Kindle ads?!) — including the technology and analytics to make it Amazon-grade accountable. Before Amazon, I developed marketing programs and technologies at Experian, having been acquired into the company after helping to build FreeCreditReport.com into a household brand name (and unsung hyper-growth story of the early 2000's). Before that? Lots of startup growth marketing and sales work. As for school, I studied aerospace engineering and political science at USC. When I'm not doing work stuff, I spend most of my time with my family in Nashville and unplug by cycling, flying (commercial rating coming Spring of '25!), and playing guitar.
