Balibó House Trust works to honour the memory of the Balibó Five by improving the lives and livelihoods of the Balibó people. Balibó House, known to many as the Australian Flag House was the last refuge of five Australian-based journalists, Greg Shackleton, Gary Cunningham, Tony Stewart, Malcolm Rennie and Brian Peters, who were murdered by invading Indonesian troops in 1975. Fellow newsman Roger East was murdered several months later as he investigated the deaths of his five colleagues.The Trust was established by the Victorian Government in October 2002 to purchase and refurbish the Balibó House so that it could be handed back to the people of the district for use as a Community Learning Centre. Today, the Trust also supports the Balibó Five Kindergarten and has plans to provide income and employment in Balibó, through the restoration of the historic Balibó Fort.

As a Senior Trader on the Sydney Futures Exchange (SFE), Rich was responsible for leading a trading team in the execution of client and discretionary orders in the interest rate and equity derivative markets.He managed the company's risk position in a high pressure environment as well as managing client relationships. As a Member of both the SFE Settlements Committee and SFE Pit Committee, he was responsible for establishing closing prices and the resolution of trading disputes.
