My 27 year consulting career began in finance and transitioned to technology after business school. I had front-row seats as enterprises began to migrate their computing workloads to the cloud - and began encountering attendant challenges managing its cost. I could not have been more fortunate to be in the right place at the right time with the right background to address these new challenges. Working alongside a group of incredibly talented individuals, I was able to become one of the founding experts of an entirely new field focused on management of spend on AWS, Azure, and GCP. Today we call it “FinOps.”

Adventure Sailing SabbaticalAtlantic Ocean Sep 2016 - Jan 2017Fulfilled the dream of a lifetime by sailing a 42 foot yacht, primarily alone ("single-handed"), from Maryland to Great Exuma Island in the Bahamas. After completing a 2.5 year restoration of the yacht in early fall, I began the voyage on October 21, 2016. During the next three months I overcame rough weather, a blown sail and several near-groundings to arrive safely in Georgetown, Great Exuma Island on January 18, 2017. Upon reaching Georgetown I had captained the yacht 1,460 nautical miles over the course of 35 individual voyage legs, with over 2/3 of the distance covered single-handed. Sailing the yacht back to her new home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida added an additional 314 miles for a voyage total of 1,774 miles.

At Zenoss I built, from the ground up, a new "Customer Enablement" department responsible for providing customer training and supplementary product documentation. During my tenure at Zenoss I was able to recruit, train and manage a complete Enablement team, to grow training volumes by over seven-fold, and to globalize Zenoss training by migrating the training infrastructure from Zenoss-hosted servers to Amazon Web Services (AWS). As part of the AWS migration, I developed a full suite of automation that allowed Zenoss to clone its complete training infrastructure to any region of the world as needed to meet the needs of an increasingly global customer base. -

I was hired as a consultant to generate pro-forma financial statements for a capital raise shortly before I was scheduled to attend business school.
