Selected as an Alpha Startup to showcase our product at Web Summit 2021.Despite shutting down The DeFi Lab due to industry downturn and funding challenges, the experience was invaluable.

Yoco, a leading South African fintech startup, supports over 200k businesses and raised $83M in Series C funding.As an early engineer, I contributed to many different parts of the business. Eventually growing into team lead for the customer acquisition product and as well as the frontend lead for the online payments product.Yoco was a significant milestone in my career, providing invaluable experience and growth.

We built one of Africa's first Adtech recommendation and native advertising platforms, implemented on many sites across South Africa, Denmark, and Kenya, peaking at 200 million recommendations per month.Developed full dashboards for performance monitoring and a custom native advertising system. Utilized multiple databases, queuing, and caching systems to manage scale, all on AWS.As the sole developer in the first year, I handled frontend, backend, support, client and investor meetings, as well as the system architecture.
