Materials are tested for insulating properties, contamination and degradation. My job responsibilities included:- Verifying and/or completing test sample log-in information, using LIMS software.- Communicating with customers, vendors, and internal laboratory and accounting staff to insure accuracy and promptness with the testing, reporting and billing functions.- Issuing requisitions for lab supplies.

"Sylvania Lighting Services (SLS), a subsidiary of OSRAM SYLVANIA, is the industry leader in turnkey energy management solutions and preventive maintenance, and the largest national lighting service provider, with branches across the United States and Canada." I was one of eight buyers for the Central Purchasing team. Each buyer was assigned to a specific territory, but covered other territories during vacations and absences. Buyers received purchase requisitions from their assigned branches and converted them into purchase orders as needed. Duties included:- Determined sources and compared price information on direct purchase items (lighting and associated electrical products).- Reviewed purchase requisitions for content, accuracy, and adherence to corporate compliance rules, and issued purchase orders.- Communicated with vendors and SLS branches to ensure delivery schedules were met.- Researched, prepared, solicited and evaluated quote requests from vendors for large project bids.- Sourced “Made in USA” and ARRA (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) compliant product for government project bids.- SAP (ERP and SRM) and SharePoint software user.Accomplishments : - Recognized, researched and reported price discrepancies on a major lighting retrofit project, resulting in a refund of approximately $150,000 from the vendor.- Recognized potential in two SLS branch local vendors, and nurtured those relationships to the point where both became trusted low cost national vendors for product purchases.

A.F. Junker Company provided laminating and coating services to component suppliers and manufacturers of footwear, packaging, apparel, collectible dolls, and medical devices.
