QuantPORT runs a set of funds that employ a multi-strategy, multi-asset class approach utilizing a diverse set of systematic alpha strategies applied to global equity securities and futures instruments. A wide array of factors including technical and fundamental are used to derive discrete alpha signals across an array of time frames. Central to our multi-strategy approach is the consumption of quant data-sets and the systematic tracking of data across the breadth of our investment universe. In line with this, we have developed a global alpha capture strategy to extract the best value from sell-side brokers, banks and research houses. We call it "Sequential Alpha". At the heart of our approach is good communication and in-depth feedback and while we are systematic in nature, we feel that the best relationships are still built on face-time interaction and understanding our contributing partners. We have over 25 years combined experience building/running alpha capture programs at major global banks and high-profile hedge funds.QuantPORT is a Registered Investment Adviser and is registered as a CTA with the CFTC and is a member of the NFA. The Strategic Investments Division of QuantPORT is a quantitative asset management group utilizing a range of systematic strategies applied to various global markets to create investment products in the absolute return space. The Division provides investment advisory and portfolio management services to institutional clients. QuantPORT is a division of Jefferies Financial Group.
Senior Vice President On The Commercial Team
Red Deer is a state-of-the-art information-management tool, elegantly conceived and powerfully executed. It is the essential tool to frame your day, providing all the organisation and preparation you need to make skilful investment decisions. My role is split between the Product team (helping to develop the system design and integrate street-wide content) and the Business Development team.
Global Head Of Electronic Alpha Capture | Director
I was in charge of Alpha Capture/Trade Ideas globally at Credit Suisse Equities for over 7 years. Client and vendor platform management, performance oversight, signal analysis, coverage process & targeted idea distribution across the firm and to our top clients globally. I also represented Credit Suisse on the Board of Trade Ideas Limited (TIL), an industry standard consortium I founded at Merrill Lynch in my previous role. After more than 12 years direct experience, helping to shape the alpha capture landscape, I decided to make a change to the buy-side and get back to solving the bigger problem that has still not been resolved: How to control the Street-wide fire-hose of unstructured content and data.
Global Head Of Technology Product Development, Equities | Director
I covered many roles at Merrill Lynch after leaving the Futures desk. These involved building client-facing technology / web solutions for the firm's institutional clients. Central to my role was to market our many solutions to our top clients globally. I also ran the global product support teams (London/NYC/HK), thus covering the full picture from business requirement to client marketing and downstream support. For the last few years (2007-2008) I was Global Head of technology product development. Mainly responsible for the renovation of our institutional web platform MLX across Equity, Research and Fixed Income, as well as building an Alpha Capture business/process/platform across all of Equities globally.I managed MLX2's multi-year, multi-million dollar renovation budget/roadmap and completed the business requirements, functional specification and persona profiling of our entire institutional client audience before I left to run alpha capture at Credit Suisse. MLX2 ultimately became MERCURY at BAML after I left. My hybrid role in this space over the years is unique, in that I provided the essential link between the Business and Technology, with extensive experience on both sides of the fence. I consider myself to be a specialist in the field of Content. In 2004, I founded the alpha capture industry consortium "Trade Ideas Limited (TIL)" and sat on the Board for Merrill Lynch until I left for Credit Suisse in late 2008 (and then again at CS until 2015).
Global Financial Futures & Options Broker
I started out in Client Services for the global futures and options division, based in Ropemaker (now Markit). I learned the art of open-outcry phone broking and traded multi-currency futures in Fixed Income on the Hedge Fund Sales desk (6 years). In 1997 I moved to the Smith New Court building in Farringdon to help setup our Global Equities futures desk (3 years). Here I continued to cover the top hedge fund clients of the firm globally. In total I spent over 10 years trading open outcry exchanges all across the Merrill Lynch franchise. Worthy of note is that I was the only qualified Reuters "GLOBEX" operator and thus experienced the first of many electronic futures markets, trading Chicago out of hours from London, as early as 1994 I believe. I could see the future. In early 1999 I designed the desk's 'FF&O website' (pre-trade commentary, research and analytics) taking us to a new and unexplored level of coverage offering the first front office, official Merrill Lynch website for institutional clients. This led to the rest of my career.
