We deliver business critical leisure travel services to over 100 organisations in 13 countries and our stack delivers over £2.5 Billion of transactions annually.My business Sequence was founded in 1995, and we grew to become a top 20 UK digital agency. We specialised in high-end ecommerce and mobile experiences, predominately in the travel and leisure space. Sequence was acquired by Inspiretec in 2017 and my journey as part of the Inspiretec leadership team began!As CCO at Inspiretec I have executive responsibility for our own customer experience – new business development, customer retention, account management, customer engagement and support - all fall under my watch. In my 30-year career I’ve had the pleasure of working with global brands such as Disney, Microsoft, Volkswagen, the BBC as well as local and national Governments. I’ve sat on European Commission expert groups, the ICT sector panel for Welsh Government and the Executive of the British Interactive Media Association.I’m a regular event speaker and panel member and have contributed to TV, radio and press articles on the subjects of Artificial intelligence, customer experience, digital transformation, skills and entrepreneurship.A creative technologist at heart, I pride myself on delivering services that look good and deliver positive customer experience. My purpose is to help businesses leverage creative thinking and use the sensitive application of technology to transact, engage and entertain. I thrive on challenges.

I founded Sequence when I noticed that organisations needed tools that allow them to easily maintain the content of their websites, and as such we delivered our first database driven content managed website in 1996 - an embryonic CMS. We focused on leveraging technology and applying it creatively to deliver powerful user experiences. Sequence grew rapidly to become recognised as one of the most successful agencies in the UK - topping numerous industry awards categories, fast growth leader boards and agency rankings.My agency delivered rich creative and transactional platforms for a diverse blue-chip client base including the BBC, the Cabinet Office, Volkswagen, Disney, Bentley Motors, the NHS, Admiral, Microsoft, British & Irish Lions and Honeywell Aerospace.In 2017 Sequence was acquired by global travel technology specialist, Inspiretec and I transitioned to the Inspiretec board as Chief Commercial Officer.

Welsh Government Ict Sector Panel

I was co-opted on to the Welsh Government ICT Sector Panel – the panel was tasked to use their private sector experience to advise Ministers on helping to remove obstacles businesses face and identify the best opportunities for economic development within Wales.My primary focus was to represent the digital ‘online’ space - the space that sits squarely between both the creative and more traditional ICT spaces. I am also passionate about how the public sector engages with small and medium enterprise and want to do my bit to help remove the barriers for Wales creating a culture of entrepreneurship.

I wanted to make sure that the regions and nations were fairly represented within BIMA. I also wanted to contribute to the shaping of how digital channels are being used between education and economic development (I chaired the BIMA Government & Policy working group).At the end of my 3-year term I was proud to see the formation of thriving regional activity across Scotland, North West England and Wales and was delighted to chair the industry panel developing the Junior Content Producer Apprenticeship.

E-Teg Expert Group

I was appointed to the European Commissions’ e-Tendering Expert Group (e-TEG) group, and we were tasked with creating best practice to support uptake the of e-Procurement tools within member states and develop common tools and approaches to overcome uptake obstacles. Driven by the new EU directives that were expected to see new legislation making e-procurement compulsory at a national level, the EC convened a group of public and private sector experts to define best practice models and case studies to support and empower member states to be best prepared to adopt the legislation. Richard also acted as a ‘Rapporteur’ on the Tender contents working group who are tasked with the simplification and streamlining of tender content, specifically for SMEs.

Initially appointed in a first desk support role for Microcom UK for their software and modem products I quickly gained product specialist knowledge and was appointed as an Applications Engineer which exposed me to pre-sales implementation environments as well as post sales support in larger accounts.During my time with Microcom (who were subsequently acquired by Compaq to create their Access Solutions Division) I was involved in the deployment of central site products in the first ISP (Internet Service Providers) in Israel and Greece as well as the introduction of the companies’ ISDN and 56K modem products to the UK.
