I have a strong and successful background as a software engineer and full-stack developer using SQL, Typescript, C# and C++ and several related frameworks such as Feathers, TypeORM, Dapper and React as well as various other tools such as Git, Postman, MySQL Workbench, etc. I also have experience integrating software with a wide variety of devices (manufacturing equipment, radars, pan-tilt systems, cameras, radiation detectors, etc.) using comm interfaces such as TCP/IP, RS232, RS485, and SNMP. I've worked with a variety of project life-cycle workflows such as Agile, SCRUM, and Waterfall, as well as hybrids of each, and have used many of the common project visibility tools like Jira and Kanban boards. But in addition to my technical background, one of my strengths is that I truly enjoy meeting new people and developing professional relationships, which allows me to act effectively as a team facilitator and company representative in both group and individual settings.

Software EngineerFlir Systems, Inc. Dec 2008 - Mar 2016Wilsonville, Or, UsAt FLIR I developed software applications and components to incorporate a wide variety of CBRNE devices such as radiation detectors, bio-hazard monitors, and mass spectrometers into larger integrated systems. Additionally, I also designed and developed control software to integrate pan/tilt platforms, radar systems, UPS systems, weather monitoring stations, and other devices. The software interfaces with these devices involved everything from legacy RS-232 serial interfaces, up through TCP/IP communications and used protocol API’s that ranged from low level binary up through schema defined XML formats. More recently I developed applications to improve internal processes and enhance efficiency and productivity in the Science, Production, and QC groups. One of the last projects I completed was to create a software server in the Linux QT environment that encapsulated a C++ explosives detection algorithm allowing it to be invoked from a .NET client library which I developed in parallel with the algorithm server. The .NET client library also exposed an API for Microsoft Excel that the lead chemist could then use to quickly validate changes in the C++ implementation of the explosives algorithm. The achieved objective greatly reduced time required to validate changes in the explosives detection algorithm and provides the ability to adjust it with confidence when required. In addition to the software and technical accomplishments at FLIR, I frequently traveled both alone and as part of a team to pursue our project objectives and am very comfortable acting as a company representative and technical liaison. I am able to develop and deliver technical presentations as needed, and can deal with difficult or challenging circumstances when they arise. -
Sr. Software EngineerDoug Carson & Associates, Inc. Nov 1994 - Nov 2008DCA was a small but very interesting company I was privileged to be a part of for 14 years and where I had the opportunity to work with some incredibly talented people. I developed middle to low level software almost exclusively in C++ for signal processing and real-time control of I/O devices and industrial laser beam recorders. While part of the development team at DCA, I led the process of integrating the LBRs from various manufacturers. In this capacity I worked directly with domestic and international companies to gather integration requirements, write design specs, and act as the lead engineer during the entire software life-cycle for LBR control components.

Systems AnalystOklahoma State Careertech Jun 1991 - Nov 1994I worked at the Department of Vocational and Technical Education starting as a night shift computer operator. While not part of my job duties, I began developing C++ software applications designed to query, transmit, and organize data in ways that would assist the other systems analysts in the Information Systems group. When a position was available I was promoted to a systems analyst/developer position where I designed and developed a data collection application in Clipper database language which was used by all Career Technology schools in Oklahoma.
