Principal Software Systems Engineer
CurrentI am part of an extremely talented and adaptable group of software engineers who are responsible for driving new platform and feature development of Extreme's network operating system. Extreme's networking gear is built atop an embedded Linux kernel utilizing 3rd party silicon as the foundation of its data plane. This software is endian neutral and spans MIPS, x86, and ARM architectures.Responsible for the technical roadmap and advancement of Extreme's Summit Stack offering. Identify new system capabilities and work with product marketing to prioritize release scheduling. Evaluate new generations of vendor silicon to determine the compatibility and expansion options for upcoming platforms.Identify, design, and implement user experience initiatives. These initiatives are focused on "zero touch" networking deployments which ease the installation of new equipment and improve the overall user experience.Focus on test automation to improve release cadence using CI/CD methodologies.Engage in the triage of customer found issues and drive through to resolution. This often involves escalating cases through our silicon vendor's technical support and engineering teams.
