As the Co-Lead Pastor I share the teaching, vision casting, and leadership of the church. I conduct spiritual oversight of the church, provide vision, and facilitate the mission of the church. I preach a minimum of 20 times a year in the Sunday morning service [sharing this with the other Co-Lead Pastor]. I also lead worship at least 20 times per year. My specific responsibilities as the Co-Lead role include planning and organizing all worship services [order of service/schedules, bulletin, announcements & scripture reading, communion, church calendar: ex. baptisms, baby dedication, advent, lent, etc. & worship nights]. Worship Ministry [training for worship team members, sound team, equipment oversight/maintenance, etc.] Men’s & Women’s Ministry, Children & Youth Ministry, Internship Training & Supervision, Counseling & Congregational Care, oversight of the Hospitality ministry, along with oversight of all Retreats & Conferences. In 2017, I helped lead the launch of The Magnuson Park Community Dinner Church and The Bridge Christian Fellowship.

I facilitate individual, youth, family/marriage, and group counseling at my private practice located near Green Lake in Seattle, WA and I lead counseling retreats. I am a member of the American Counseling Association, Seattle Counseling Association, and the Counseling Seattle Network. Working from existential, relational, and psychodynamic models of psychotherapy, I strive to work with individuals by diving into the depths of their stories and authentically engaging and exploring their relational styles and most personal struggles. Areas of specialty include... addictions (chemical and sexual), youth, marriage and family, transitions, exploring areas of spirituality and faith, relational difficulties, suicidal tendencies, and issues of grief, depression, self esteem, loss, and self-identity.

Started this business as a way to both missionally serve those in my community. Since then I have won the “brides choice award” every year since 2007 as well as have been wedding wire rated. Weddingwire is the biggest online wedding referral company in the United States. I work with couples to create personalized wedding ceremonies, coordinate and run wedding rehearsals, give wedding service referrals, and also provide professional pre-martial and marriage counseling. I have been quoted in a number of magazines including three times in Seattle Bride Magazine, and twice in Seattle Metropolitan Bride & Groom.

When I came on the pastoral staff the church was about to go through some serious transitions. Over the last four years the church went through two moves to different buildings, the loss of the lead pastor of ten years, the cutting of more than half the staff, two service time changes, a year without a lead pastor, and the changing of the church name/identity/vision. In the midst of this, I developed a ministry to the youth that started with a weekly average of about 5 students to one that now averages 30 and ministers to over 45 students in a church of about 120 adults. I developed ministries and systems of leadership in the areas of prayer, worship, teaching, small groups, communication and administration, etc. that provided consistency and health in a time of great change. As a result, our church’s ministry to youth through college grew, our small group ministry involvement rose to almost 80%, we gained more leadership within our worship teams, and made a big change from being more of a “Sunday only” church to a missional church. I led the creating and organization of a new nonprofit community center ministry that grew from the ground up connecting to over 150 neighborhood families in less than 2 years. I also oversaw two MDiv interns through both Fuller Theological Seminary and Mars Hill Graduate School. The church is now growing. With consistency, leadership, and new vision in place, we are seeing an average of 6 new people a week, gaining new giving units, is missionally minded, and is becoming a place of influence within the community.

Became a licensed Minister of the Church of God, Anderson, Indiana in September 2001. Responsible for the Jr. and Sr. High teaching/curriculum including Sunday school, youth group, small groups, prayer ministry, discipleship, school chapels, and leadership teams (both student and adult). Developed and implemented strategy (overall direction and goals) for the Fairview youth ministry. Addressed the mental, physical, social, and spiritual needs of each student, including, family/peer relations, chemical dependency, sexual education, health, career and educational counseling, anger management, and suicidal tendencies. Created and taught a youth ministry track for a church ministry conference that occurred three times a year. Grew the existing youth ministry from 8 students to 30 in six months and then maintained an average ministry of 80 students weekly within a church of 200. Planned and led a group of students to Mexico for there first mission trip. Developed, taught, and managed both student and adult leadership teams to help plan, support, and facilitate the youth ministry. Developed a strong small group ministry for both Jr. and Sr. High students. Pioneered and led different campus ministries through both Young Life and Youth for Christ Parachurch ministries. Created a family friendly youth ministry through activities and continual communication. Prepared and taught sermons for the adult congregation on a regular basis. Lead all the adult worship experiences for over a year including the leadership development of all the worship team members.

Provide one on one and group counseling for the high school students at Eastside Academy including those considered at-risk students on a weekly basis. Worked with the mental, physical, social, and spiritual health of each student, including, family relations, chemical dependency, career choices, anger management, suicidal tendencies, sexual abuse, divorce, risk prevention and disorders. Perform initial assessments, in-take forms, bio-psycho-social assessments, progress notes, AIDS intervention/assessments, and treatment plans for every client. Worked with a team of teachers, mentors, supervisors, and interns to best meet the needs of each student. Led and taught the 12 step, relapse prevention, and life after drugs and alcohol classes. Created, led, and taught classes on having a balanced life.

As the Camp Director (Jr./Sr. High and College), I was in charge of programs, including worship, games, activities, recruiting cabin leaders, speakers, etc. for week long camps in the summer, and weekend retreats in the winter. As the camp Speaker, I was the primary teacher|speaker for both Jr. and Sr. high summer camps and winter retreats. As a Training In Christian Living (TCL) Cabin Leader (Summer of 1997), I worked as “live in” counselor, teacher, & worship leader for month long intensive training program. As the Summer Staff Program Assistant (Summer of 1996) I worked in conjunction with all camp directors to help implement all programming areas including worship, games, cooks, speakers, cabin leaders, and facilities and led worship for the camp staff and service teams.

Defined and articulated the vision, purposes, and strategies of the Sunrise youth programs. Created and led all areas of mental, physical, social and spiritual development associated with the Jr./Sr. high students and their families. Applied the Purpose-Driven Model at Sunrise after being trained in California at Saddleback Youth Conference (note: also used Sonlife Strategies after training in Seattle at Sonlife Conferences). Started, developed, and implemented all Jr. High programs and activities. Trained and managed a team of eight youth volunteers. Coordinated leadership teams, small groups, finances, and policy for the youth ministry. Planned and implemented a monthly youth/college/career worship night. Discipled youth and led small groups for both Jr. and Sr. High students. Preached regularly, both in “seeker-sensitive” and discipleship settings. Wrote monthly articles to articulate vision, disciple members, and communicate prayer requests of the youth ministry. Created and produced printed materials such as youth bulletin, newsletter, promotional materials, and advertising.
