With the company running on three platforms (HPUS, Solaris and Linux) it was decided to consolidate on one platform. The retirement of the Solaris and HPUX systems was accomplished with minimal down time. Parallel system builds allowed for seamless cut over and a reduction of the hardware footprint of the company by one third.As a Senior UNIX Systems administrator at The Capital Group I have spent a great deal of time working on upgrades and update projects. The development of tools that allow for the rapid and consistent deployments of Solaris 10 servers running Oracle, WebLogic, and SunONE web servers complete with storage, failover cluster configurations and application deployments.
