Transition technology from innovation to profitable manufacturing business or funded development programs.I was the program manager and technology development leader for multi-million dollar programs as diverse as ceramic refractories, composites for thermal management (Rich developed this core technology for CPS's AlSiC - the materials, the manufacturing technology, the procedures, quality system, the equipment, etc), and most recently in ballistic and blast armor (HybridTech Armor) for the US Army. I have negotiated product specifications in the Phillipines, led CPS to ISO 9001 certification (I was CPS's first ISO Management Rep), and developed neutron absorbers for spent nuclear fuel rod storage. Common in all these activities is a style of working with and through people enthusiastically and in a very honest and open manner. My style is friendly, and very constructive, while being direct and focused, and demanding in a positive manner. I am considered a most effective and extremely productive leader, and willing to take rational risks. Many product technologies I have developed were novel and risky, whether the development of our core AlSiC technology - both the materials and manufacturing technology, or a complete departure into advanced protective armor and neutron absorbers for spent nuclear fuel rods. A pointed example of my collaborative style on many different levels was turning a fine from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection into an award and speech at the MA State House Hall of Flags.
