The Society Company (SoCo) offers a simple way for people to reduce the amount of single-use plastic they use, to live more sustainably and to raise funds for their local communities. We offer household essentials such as food, toiletries and cleaning products as sustainably as possible whilst keeping prices low enough to be competitive with supermarkets. The toiletries and cleaning products come in reusable bottles that we collect, clean and refill. Food comes in the lowest impact, most easily recyclable packaging such as recycled brown paper bags.Customers pay a monthly subscription for a choice of products from a core offering of sustainably sourced products, with the option to add further products coming soon. Subscriptions are managed and orders placed on our website www.weareso.co.The orders are packed in our facilities and delivered in bulk to the customer’s community on set days. Customers pick up their orders (and then drop off their empty containers) when they are already visiting their community, giving maximum convenience and minimum transport emissions. We work with local communities such as primary schools, who receive a significant portion of the sales revenue in return for introducing us to the members of their community, providing a location for us to deliver to and volunteers to help distribute the orders. We launched with our first community, St Stephen’s Primary School in West London, in November 2019, and having proved the concept, we are now looking to rollout with more communities in London, so if you'd like to reduce the amount of single-use plastic you use, to live more sustainably and to raise funds for your local community then please get in touch. We are also raising investment to grow the business, so please get in touch if you are interested in making a real impact (and return) with your investment.
  • Rhw Launch Consulting
    Founder
Rhw Launch Consulting May 2019 - Jul 2019
    London, United Kingdom
Helping startups launch their businesses and existing businesses to launch new products.- My first client was a creative agency who wanted to launch an app they had developed for their internal use. I worked with them to create a Strategic Decision Framework to understand what the objectives of the launch are, how they would measure success, who the target audience is, what their needs are and what they want the audience to do in order to hit their objectives. This drove app functionality requirements and also which metrics were needed to be captured in the beta testing and how to do this. I also worked on business strategy, looking at the best models to monetise the app, competitors, market size, pricing and potential revenue, development and ongoing costs, sources of funding and exit strategies.- My second client was what became The Society Company, who I joined as COO & Co-Founder.

Energeno helped drive Solar PV uptake by maximising returns on Solar PV investments but was severely affected when the feed-in tariff that incentivised the installation of Solar PV was dramatically reduced at short notice by the government. My responsibilities as Head of Sales included:- Managing & training small Regional sales team.- Business Development & Account Management - I won and managed a number of major clients including large national distributors such as EH Smith Builders Merchants, Edmundson Electrical & Segen (the largest distributor of Solar equipment). - Developed sales through existing channels and gave seminars & training at trade shows & events.- Identifying new channels & routes to market, such as identifying & targeting a major supplier of Solar Panels into Social Housing and developing them over time to become our largest customer.
