Introduced a Supplier Improvement Process (SIP) that focused on developing partnerships with our lowest performing suppliers and assisted in developing their Quality Management Systems (QMS) into a proactive process.Introduced Layered Process Auditing within the manufacturing plant that allowed us to successfully reduce our Production Auditor numbers in half (from 22 to 11). During that time total Defects per Million (DPM) decreased from 40 to below 25.Introduced automated Statistical Process Control (SPC) of critical dimensioning within the fabrication department and electronic SPC within the assembly process.Successfully kept the department within budget during 2 years as manager.

Responsibilities included the introduction of new components with existing and new suppliers, reporting supplier quality metrics to senior management, and maintaining quality level of current suppliers of production components. Managed all launches and value engineering projects through the product development process for curtain and driver side airbag inflators. Reported to upper management monthly regarding the top issues that pertained to critical programs. Performed continuous engineering functions for the inflator portion of all Ford, GM, and VW driver airbag module programs. Updated key engineering documents including DFMEA’s, drawings, and engineering specifications. Key Achievements: Worked with German colleagues to manage the transfer of supplier component volume from our Germany manufacturing facility to our local manufacturing facility for the launch of the North American version of a key new technology.Flawlessly launched the local supply base for components of a key new technology that was introduced at our local manufacturing facility.Worked with a key strategic supplier to move them from being on a supplier improvement plan to producing at World Class quality levels (1 PPM).Traveled to supplier locations in North America, Asia and Europe to complete component launch tasks and process audits to assure high quality levels of new and serial production components.Obtained customer approval to convert a Chrysler driver side airbag inflator to the next generation inflator, providing a project savings of $200,000 annually. Successfully launched six driver side inflator programs.Achieved implementation readiness approval from Ford Core Engineering for the future generation driver airbag inflator.Implemented the value engineering change converting a current inflator shell from stainless steel to carbon steel which resulted in a $360,000 component annual savings.

Responsibilities included the developement of door latching and window regulator systems for Ford and Chrysler programs; creating, revising and documenting processes for drawings, specifications, DFMEA's, and DVP&R's within Magna Closures' product management system; resolving product development issues with internal and external suppliers; closing test incident reports (TIR's) which included establishing responsible root causes with the supply chain, the test lab, and core engineering; developing robust component designs that met required component specifications with Magna Closures' supply chain.Key Achievements:Engineered the door module system for the current model Chrysler Sebring 2-door convertible.Worked with Magna Sales, Engineering, Finance and the customer to resolve issues with engineering changes.Launched the hybrid Ford Escape side door and liftgate latching systems.Redeveloped the system to meet new side-impact crash test requirements.Traveled to Turkey to assist in the launch of the Ford Turkey Transit.Developed the door closure system for various Ford applications.
