After running my own carpentry business and attaining the qualifications to be a qualified builder, I’m looking to further my knowledge and skills within the construction industry by becoming an engineer.For the past year, I've been studying part-time a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) through the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), while working as a Carpenter. However, the more time I spend completing my degree, the more I want to step into an engineering consultancy and get real on the job experience. Whether this be in drafting or an assistant role, I'd relish and appreciate any exposure to the engineering world that you may be able to offer.Running a small business in the construction industry has given me a variety of skills: - Dealing with clients- Drafting & Executing plans (basic experience of AutoCad 2021)- Planning & Managing Small Projects- Engaging & Organising other trades- Invoicing- Referring to Building Codes and StandardsI have always had a passion for construction, from designing, drafting, engineering and building a deck on my renovation project, to developing a career out of it. And I look forward to becoming a future Structural Engineer and seeing where it takes me!
